Amazing how unpredictable the things that grab viewing public's attention. The first thing I looked at and pondered for a while was how it was clamped in the vise. I was obsessed with if and how it was padded. Lonby Bigbore - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Gary, Good post. I would have re-tweeted it, given a thumbs up on Facebook and followed on Instagram but I can't find the links. Lonby Bigbore - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Pedro, Why not fool around with some cheap knife blanks purchased on Ebay? Lonby Bigbore - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
That was a pretty aggressive test for .08 steel. I rarely if ever see the Internet knife guys beating on anything less than .125. Lonby Bigbore - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Pedro, What is the blade thickness at the spine? Lonby Bigbore - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, The dagger turned out really well. That camo handle material is a great fit for that knife. Lonby Bigbore - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Pedro, MUCH better than my first attempt. Is that the new forge? Did you do any additional hardening? Lonby Bigbore - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Pedro, I'm with Gary, patch it up and use it as a learner. bet we still see it on the bench 10 years from now. Don't "love it to death", start forging. Lonby Bigbore - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, BTW, I really enjoyed the get together at your place, I no doubt would have enjoyed a get together at Kent's - I had my airline tickets and hotel res., hurricane swept through Miami that week - but the scale of the two mentioned events was incredible AND it had ALL the players to boot. 1) Shoot 2) I would collect and use depending on the knife A) drop point B )Folders with assisted lever opening. No mechanisms on a fixed blade. C)Both 3) I doubt there is something you haven't already made. If I did think of one, you'd pull an old photo out of the drawer. 4) SS I & Kentucky, which ever that was. Gary, There are some fantastic videos on YouTube that show the process. If you search for "Bladesmith testing" you should find some. A couple points I found interesting were the need to balance the areas of hardness to produce a sharp edge that will hold an edge and yet a blade that will not break if bent. As you mentioned previously, there is a LOT of technique and experience required to makby Bigbore - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, "Besides, I don’t think I can work that 1911 into a pocket knife. " If you can, you can ask $1,000,000 according to the video. Lonby Bigbore - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Gary, You use clay on the portion of the blade you don't want to harden, correct? Lonby Bigbore - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
That looks interesting. Lonby Bigbore - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
1) Yes 2)It's OK but Titanium has never been particularly interesting to me ornamentally. I like it on my jets though. 3) Clip is nice so that it doesn't stress pockets. You know I think they could use just a little something so Ya know there is a Barnes in there. Lonby Bigbore - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum

Very elegant. What did you decide about embellishing the clips? Is the shape problematic? Lonby Bigbore - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Looks like a homerun to me. I really like your slimline gentlemen's folder series. Barnes shield on the clip maybe? Lonby Bigbore - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Kurt, That is not my pistol, I was shooting with the camera. The guy that owned it let me take a shot with it IIRC, but I don't have a vivid memory of the event, or many events of that era to be perfectly honest. Lonby Bigbore - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
