The slugs look nice and deadly, with 260fpe, it will penetrate like there's no tomorrow due to excellent sectional density. It makes me want to buy a .30 gun! The Prarie looks beautiful, oh, and the scope wheel looks bigger than the gun he..he.. Nice combo. Good job Jerry!!by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Good job Neil! Very impressive shooting. Oh, that big silent portable bench is really nice! Wish I had one. Gary, you're very funny he..he..by peter-n - The Hunting Camp
Now..... Jerry, don't feel too bad, at least you have a few of Barnes guns, I have none! But, like you, after I saw the Grizzly and the Dragon and their performances, I've been praying to God everytime I walk into the Casino and put a few bucks in the MegaBuck machine and hopeful to hit something. I live in Vegas, and it's only 5 minutes away from the Casinos he..he..by peter-n - Gary's Galleries
I know, I was just teasing you. As for me, I love all my airguns, admittedly, some is more than others. However, it seems each is different, serves its own purposes, and interesting in their own ways. Maybe, I'm an airgun "freak" I don't know he..he..by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Jim, the Alpine is a really nice gun, I didn't know it was made that early, thanks for the infos!by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Well, after you've been spoiled with Barnes guns, everything else is less desirable to you Jerry he..he..by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
That's what I thought. I kinda knew Gary had the Bisons with over 500 fpe before that time, but I wasn't sure when. And if that was the case, then Gary is truly the pioneer and forefather of the modern super powerful bigbore airguns.by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
This was touted as the World's most powerful air rifle in the year 2000 by UK Airgunner Magazine. It was made by Adrian Hartley, it's a .50 with 340 fpe and costs about $5000 in the year 2000 money, very interesting.... It's a beautiful, and powerful gun in it's time, however, compared to today's Gary's bigbore such as the Dragon with 840 fpe........ he..he...by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
You're right Neil. As for me, I only feel regret on the one of a kind one, the one that is hard to get, and might have to wait for a long time to get one that IF there was a custom builder willing to build it for me. As for the replaceable ones, I wouldn't care as much.by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Wow! That is awesome Gary! Looks good.by peter-n - Gary's Galleries
I've sold a few prized airguns and have regretted ever since. The most memorable one is the .50 custom airpistol, it put out 300 fpe and has 2 full power shot and one finishing shot and is accurate. I bought it for $700 and sold it for $900, but the main reason I sold it was the belief that I would get another pistol in 12 guage with 500 fpe. Well, the builder went out of business because of famiby peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
John whiscombe is no doubt made the greatest spring guns. I really like them. I love spring guns myself, and I own a Beeman Kodiac .22 and have a lot of fun shooting and hunting with it.by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Very impressive carving Gary! It makes the gun look even more beautiful and a treasure. I'd love to have it on my gun he..he.. Good job!!by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Great looking gun! I like the style and the design, and very impressive number too.by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Happy Birthday Jerry!! I hope as you get older, you will have more leisure time to shoot, and post more videos for us he...he...by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Pretty cool targets! Must be a lot of fun to shoot them.by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Welcome Jerry! Same here, the main reason I joined this forum is because I love Gary's works, and also I've found that his place is fun, informative and has a bunch of very nice guys to discuss airguns with. So don't be shy and post away he..he..by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, this gun is truly a Masterpiece, I just feel that with its looks, performances and power, it should have been written in main stream gun magazines. Same goes for your other awesome bigbores.by peter-n - Gary's Galleries
Thanks guys for the inputs! When I started this thread, I knew it would be met with different opinions, but that's what the forum is for, to discuss about our beloved guns and it's effectiveness. This is probably the only thread ever about the "taboo" subject of super powerful bigbore against large dangerous games in any airgun forums ever. The opinions I got from you is that Gary's .87 bigboresby peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Jim, I don't know what do you mean by "had" and "was" , anything get hit by a .87 bore would be "finito" he...he...by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Well.....I guess, there are 2 types of hunters, one is the conservative, the other is the risk taker type; I'm the risk taker type of hunter, I belong to the group of hunter that wouldn't mind taking down the large dangerous game with relatively primitive archery weapon, black powder, or powerful bigbores, however with backup ofcourse he..he....by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
About reloading the single shot bigbore, I think with lots of practice, and by holding a second slug in the hand, one would be able to reload a second shot in about 1 second or 2 is the max, incase of a charged by bear or wild boar. If you don't have a double barrels gun, this is a good option, and ofcourse with the PH or a Guide backing you up. A bear or wild boar can cover about 35 ft per seconby peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I totally agree with you 100%! And the .62 Grizzly with 750 fpe would certainly do the job. With the right slug, and enough fpe for complete penetration of the vitals, and provided that the caliber is big enough to produce a big full caliber wound, you wouldn't need 5000 fpe to kill a tough game like conventional wisdom thinking. FPE is important but it's not the only thing for terminal effect. Iby peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
This topic is for discussions, speculations and entertainment, since no one has taken the BIG dangerous stuffs with the bigbores yet. Dangerous game such as black bears and wild Russian boar have already been taking down with the bigbores, I'm talking about the bigger stuffs, such as the Alaskan Brown bear, Polar bear in North America, and Lion, leopard in Africa. I know, the day of it becominby peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
cool videos! It looks more like a small missile streaking down range than a bullet in slow motion. Jerry, can you describe what you think of the gun, since you've seen and shot it in person?by peter-n - Gary's Galleries
I understand big bears are extremely tough and mean, however just like archery hunting, I agreed, you'd need proper backup when hunting dangerous games with bows or bigbores.by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Good Lord Gary, all I can say is WOW!! It's a Ultimate Bigbore for the Century he..he.. now I need to do a bank job......he..he..by peter-n - Gary's Galleries
This gun would make spectacular kills on deer. I'd like to see someone take a deer with it, to see how fast it goes down. Due to its big, massive slug, this gun would be ideal medicine for moose, bison, and even big bear if it was legal. And if you believed in Taylor's K.O formula, this gun has more killing power than the 5000 fpe .375 H&H magnum. here is the formula: Velocity times weight tiby peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Good close up pictures. Barnes quality of the gun looks amazing! And yeah, the massive hole in the barrel looks pretty deadly!by peter-n - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
