Hey Tofazfou Your D-slayer is a .454? I thought they were a 50 (.495?) did you put a different barrel on yours? And if so, Why?by Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
No sweat Gary, I wasn't figuring you were pounding the weights, but I'm always amazed how much simple things like a taking a walk with the misses in the evening (in 4 feet of snow?) or something like that helps. Fresh air and a little bit of exercise burns a few calories and helps me sleep better and then I make better decisions about food cause I can actually read what I'm looking at in theby Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Thanks Tofazfou, I appreciate it. Actually, I appreciate all (maybe most ) of the videos you do. This is a perfect example of why they're so helpful. And this makes one of the points of my questions and destroys another. It's super quick between the report and the impact, but more importantly is how diffused the report is at that distance. You can hear it, but it's not anywhere near as loud aby Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Thanks guys, I've seen enough videos of shots being taken where it doesn't seem to be an issue, but I just thought I'd ask. This is what happens if my mind doesn't have an outlet, it comes up with random things to ponder. I need to get back to work (not laid off, just slow)by Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Ok, I'm new to the world of big bore airguns and airguns in general. So I have a question that might seem intuitive to you "ol boys". When hunting, and using a super sonic powder burner you don't have to worry about the sound reaching and spooking a critter you're shooting at because by the time the sound gets there the projectile has been there, done it's thing and is gone. But when you shooby Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
If you look at the fourth picture down, way down at the bottom of the hole, it looks like you can see more of the reamer and it looks like it's the same size. In the picture with the date you're just seeing part of it. Lookin' good Gary. (you, not the parts, though they look nice too) you been doing a bit of this, of just watching what you eat?by Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Check out the classifieds here. There's a link (though why one would need one is a curiosity to me as well)by Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Just an FYI, There's a .45 nitro express for sale over on the yellow forum. Not mine, and I know nothing about it, but I thought I'd let y'all know since this is the mothership for Barnes stuff!!by Griffin - AR Classifieds
We'll here's my 2 cents. In no particular order. As for a pistol, while there are aspects of the hoss .45 that i really like, I definitely prefer the overall style and lines of the heritage class, Something about it has rung true for me since I first saw a picture of it. The next would probably be the southwest scout in .45. I'll be honest here, some of gary's designs are a little busy forby Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I'm guessing that gunship is about the only way to get to work for some of you right nowby Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I'll admit, it looks beautiful to me. But not all of us have the same commute that Gary does. But, I'm guessing it's taking a little longer to make the walk than usual. I love the snow, and I've never had much of an issue getting around because I've always had large 4 wheel rigs, I just get frustrated with most of the others out there who seem to get stuck at exactly the wrong place. How muby Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Is a pour spout always that big a pain? Seems like for anyone casting a lot, it might make sense, assuming you can get them to quit leaking. Is this a big issue it you're contiinually pouring and casting, or only when you wander away for a while? Or do you guys feel it's still better than dipping and pouring by hand? (seems that Gary thinks so since he keeps buying them like this?!)by Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Danny, Thanks for all the information. That seems like a great gun. Great storyby Griffin - The Hunting Camp
Jim I think I read somewhere in the grid about being careful about making sure they're taken care of. They're not exactly cheap to begin with, but if you finally found one, paid for it and shipping, just to have it arrive and realize that it's got issues. That would be like someone licking all the tootsie off my pop. Thanks for the hints guys. I'll keep my eye to the grindstone! Griffinby Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Great pics Gary, Thanks for showing us some of what you're up to. I really dig the pics of things "on their way" to being finished.by Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Lucky bugger. That's a beautiful piece. I got to admit that I'm a bit jealous. The victory is definitely one of my favorites, and the brished stainless is awesome. I'm curious as to how one gets into the pipeline of second hand Barnes guns. Enjoy it for the rest of us.by Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I'm real excited to see pics of this poject. I'd never seen or heard of a Chameleon (Gary's version) until someone put up the "content lost in space" post a few weeks ago and it was one of the things that I wandered into that really struck me.by Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Boy oh boy, we never got to go on field trips like that! We got to go places like the pumpkin patch and junk like that (not that I wasn't stoked to get out of the classroom). Maybe they figured if there was a tower like that around kids like me might drive the teacher to find the top of it! Who knows. Great job on getting the kids out to see things, the more stuff like that (culture, art,eby Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Makes me think of the scene in "City Slickers" after they run with the bulls and Billy Crystal gets stuck right in the hind end. He's laying on the table and as the doctor begins, Crystal turns his head and says "Don't sew anything up that's supposed to remain open, OK?". Although, since it's not my BP gun, I think i't'd be funny to have Jerry walk in and see a solid end on his barrel.by Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Jim, Thank you much. I've been through what I thought was the entire site (all the links I came to from the grid that was up when I started coming around), but there's a lot of stuff here that I've never seen. I love looking at all the different designs and shapes. A lot of food for thought. I especially like the Southwest scout and the chameleon. Two very unique guns. Thanks for taking the tiby Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
While I LOVE snow, that's just silly. 30 feet of snow over the course of winter. I can't even begin to figure how to get around in that. Snow mobiles and snow shoes? maybe dogsleds or flying reindeer pulling a sleigh? I think even I'd get sick of it at that point. Where you at by the way. My Grandmother has two places in Ketchikan, one in town, and the other about 1 1/2 hours out of town (by bby Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Thanks for the story Neil, I'm glad you were given a chance to tell it. Beautiful pictures. New Zealand is without a doubt one of the most scenic places I know of. Do you eat the goats? If so, how much meat do you pull off of one? Thanks for taking the time to take the pictures and write up the story!by Griffin - The Hunting Camp
Prime example of govern"mental" stupidity. You're exactly right, they'll reproduce and without natural predators they'll get too thick and then they'll just starve in a hard winter. But surely that's more humane than dropping them quick and being able to use the meat for something. Jim said that there wouldn't be much skill involved. I'm not talking about hunting, I'm talking about filling aby Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, That Appaloosa is saweeet. It looks tiny in that pic. Roughly how long is it and what does it weigh? Do you know offhand how long the barrel is? it's an awesome looking little critter. Almost looks small enough to be a backpack gun that you could just carry around with you wherever you go.by Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Cool pic. It might be kind of sick, but weird gentic traits can be awefully pretty. Ya know, there's a mighty tasty way to remedy over-population.by Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Thanks Kent and Gary for the info. The hold looks pretty interesting. Seems like it would "lock" everything into place to give a pretty stable platform. My guess is that it's intended for longer pistols like the Vistory or the Hoss. I can just imagine someone trying it with a tiny little pocket pistol and having the action get caught in their shirtsleeve or something. Or getting burned by the muzby Griffin - Gary's Galleries
You know Gary, The first time I saw a picture of the "Hoss" I thought, "What the Devil is that?" Now I can't help but sit and gawk at it. Awesome piece. So very not what you'd expect, yet it seems to all make sense when you take the time to look at it. Out of curiousity, how many of them have you made? Everytime pictures of it show up I believe Julio's name is dropped and I remember a page aboutby Griffin - Gary's Galleries
Amen Gary! What's even worse to ponder is the fact that those are the "artists" who sell the most albums and make the most money. All most of them are is a face, a huge percentage have other people writing and creating for them, but they take the credit, and the dough. The older I get the more amazed I am at what poeple will do to get on tv for their 15 minutes. Sometimes it seems like theby Griffin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Beautiful Guns Gary! (gee, imagine that?!) The lighting in the bottom pic makes it look like the grizzly is crying a big tear because it doesn't get to come live at my house.by Griffin - Gary's Galleries
If we're going to play the game the way they do, we need to vote early and vote often to kick 'em out. They aren't just talking about texting and cell phone use in Washington. They've already made it illegal, unless you're using a bluetooth or another hands free system. You don't think some corperation had a hand in that do ya?by Griffin - I'm just sayin'
