Hey . . . that looks familiar. Nice sights *and* dovetail . . . smart man. I'm guessing one of your Team Simmons turkey scopes is perfect for that one. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
And the last 2% is the stuff that no on else ever does. Looking good Gary. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Yep . . . had to upgrade. The compressor is for a book scanner of all things. It has a pneumatically actuated mechanism, and apparently we drive it more "intensely" than any of the manufacturer's other customers. So we went a little overboard and replaced the 6 gallon "silent" compressor with a 27 gallon Craftsman Pro vertical beast, which ended up being 2/3 the price of the original unit.by admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Now Lon, I had a Super Glue remark all teed up . . . you beat me to it. (And that "wink" smiley is quite appropriately used here.) -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Gary, this is where I get to say, "you want one just like that, but in slightly lighter blue?" Because we can do that, you know . . . I'll have some of the others photographed at some point too. We're fortunate to have a photographer on-staff who has done this type of work for a long time, and it shows. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Howdy folks: My company is creating some new web content for our studio photography services. I snuck this one into the queue of objects to be shot . . . enjoy. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Woohoo! That's truly great news . . . very happy for you guys that you're finally able to move past that situation. MD doesn't make it easy, do they? We will be moving our NE presence to a more business friendly, politically sane state at some undetermined point in the future, but I've got to stay within easy reach of DC for now. Gettysburg would be phenomenal, and perhaps even easternby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I found this quite interesting: http://www.cnet.com/news/now-youre-a-sharpshooter-the-smart-rifle-arrives/ Note they make a big deal out of a rifle hitting a stinkbug at 98 yards. Indeed, that's a good shot . . . but I've seen myself and others group under MOA at 100 yards (in some cases, way under) with no computers and a *handmade* airgun. As for enabling non-shooters to hit targets oby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Ahhhh . . . return of Team Simmons. Putting all of the Leupolds and guys with high end European glass to shame. Looks great Gary . . . congrats. Really glad to see holes in targets again. And happy 4th! -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I love the grain. If I send you an extra Sharpie, can you make a more figured stock? -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Nice . . . well done. And we know you've been doing this long enough to know beforehand within pretty tight tolerance what that power range is gonna be. Regardless . . . first fire of a 100% handmade big bore air rifle is always something to be celebrated. Well done, Gary. I am pleased that the "wood burning shop calculator" survived the trip to BPS. Old school indeed. I have a listby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Nice . . . I really like that one. I am the proud owner of Barnes knife #1308. It is a "contemporary" all-stainless pocket knife Gary made some years back with a unique locking mechanism. I know Gary wants everything he makes to be used as much as possible. As I fly too much these days and don't want to lose the piece to the TSA by forgetting that it's in my pocket, the knife has been graby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Nice . . . this reminds me of a few pieces you did a little before the "Maryland Exodus." One had a receiver and clamps kind of like this one, and another had more of a bluish / antiqued look. A Barnes firearm, huh? Wrap your brain around that one for a sec . . . Really cool to see BPS starting to roll! -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I like it! You got any more ancient Woolly Mammoth material to use? No worries if not . . . sounds like they'll be able to clone up a new one soon. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
We've spent most of the winter in Tampa and managed to dodge the snow. I do have to travel back and forth quite a bit . . . going up again Tuesday night weather-permitting, though MD is supposed to get another 8-10 inches of snow starting tonight. Glad to see BPS production ramping up! -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Yikes . . . yes, that fuse requires some explanation. I Just flew up to MD from FL this AM to find about 1-1/2" of sleet . . . good times. Be safe driving! -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Yeah . . . cotton thread across the Super Glued wound . . . works wonders, for you AND the lucky folks assisting with your field dressing. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
We need a smiley for "ears perked up." Hey, I'm proud of my software arms. I worked hard to make them into what they are today! -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Well Gary . . . if you do make a "plain" Hoss, I'll give you $2k for it as well. I do seem to remember it wasn't so long ago that the "Field Justice" was available for that price . . . sure wish I would have jumped on that. I find it fascinating that we're living thru a time that is seeing more technological innovation happening faster than at any other time in human history. Literally eby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Let us differentiate between two issues -- that of the replication process itself, and that of calling someone who uses such equipment an "artist." I run a shop that digitizes and reproduces 2D artwork for a living. You know, oil paintings, watercolors, etc. Gary has seen what we can do; in fact, I use one of his paintings at our trade show booth to demonstrates the accuracy of the color matby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Yeah, I was just thinking he looks a lot meaner in relief versus in pen and ink. Good to see the shops back in action. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I can hear it now . . . "Gary Barnes is so interesting, sharks have a week about him." -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Good work . . . I still remember the first time I saw an airgun paper-punch a 2x4 like it wasn't there. Fun stuff! Gary, you've got room for an in-house 7-axis CNC mill now . . . do it! -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Good to see you punching holes in things made of metal! My new range is nice and close but allows paper targets only . . . I miss New Windsor! -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Happy Birthday Gary! Hope you had a great one. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
The place is looking great Gary. Looks like that's been a good move for you guys. I grabbed a quick pic thru the window of this guy out on our front lawn this morning. He's limping around after all of the action during the rut no doubt . . . but in pretty good shape overall. Now . . . before anyone tells me to shoot him and stick him in the freezer, the deer here are *tame*. If I openby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Very nice. You should sell some prints . . . I know a guy. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
I guess the "Barnes Luck" is alive and well. Stay safe. We have a lot of friends in Tampa . . . they have been overdue for a direct hit for years and this could be the one . . . just in time for the RNC. -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
Awesome . . . congrats! Barnes Pneumatic South lives!!! Next time I'm in FL during a hurricane, I know where I'm headed! BTW, are you going to have any different designation on rifles etc. made in FL versus those that were made up here? -- Jimby admin - Airgun Rendezvous Main Forum
